My Creative Writing Journey (First Post)

Introduction

Ah! it’s great to be back. I had a blog in 2020 and It was a blast, I didn’t know what I was doing back then but its impact is what got me here today writing my blog from my room in London, UK. I have changed careers from architecture to creative writing over the past four years and it’s been daunting. I will not get into that part right now but I want to talk about my creative writing piece that I am working on.

Synopsis

I am working on a science fiction novel set in 2074 India,  I am starting my dissertation of writing a
science fiction piece. The piece’s name is Mumbadon: Rise of AI (Working title). The premise is about Veeral a robot controller who wants to be the champion in the robot battle. It’s a game where humanoid robots battle each other in hand-to-hand combat trying to win, these robots are controlled by champions who want to be the Master Robot Battler set in 2074 Mumbadon a fictional place tethered to Indian culture. Even while writing the synopsis I am getting the hibby-gibbyies.

Process Of Writing Science Fiction

I wrote around 1100 words on 31st May 2024 for this piece and I understood where this piece is going. I want to commit to writing each day, allowing me to develop this story. Writing something every day is a must but it is difficult as well. I saw an interview with Niel Gaiman and he says that writing a book is a process you can’t plan a book from the start but only have a general direction.

I believe writing a book is like a telescope knowing which part of the sky to look but only after hours of focusing on that part of sky does the image renders.

Understanding Characters.

I now have three main characters Veeral the main lead who discovers that he has the powers to understand the code of a system just by touching it and then can manipulate the robot or the systems as he wishes. Then we have Yara who is the female of the main trio group stereotypically she is the smart one but I am not sure yet maybe she could be the angry one like Theresa from Percy Jackson. Lastly, we have Arjun who I want to be someone like Sokka from Avatar the Last Airbender maybe a funny guy and street smart.

Resources Required.

Currently, I am struggling to write fights how robots fight they would fight differently than humans since there aren’t any repercussions to losing or destroying other robots. Maybe I could look into illegal fighting or street fighting styles. But I need to start looking at some since I am just delaying the inevitable of not writing the fight scenes.

Conclusion

Let’s hope I can finish the story as soon as possible. Will keep you guys posted.
